Implementation Consultant

When I found AppNexus…
I had been working at a major financial firm for several years, but increasingly found myself questioning my decision to stay. Though engineering was something I wanted to do, I found myself in a role that stifled all forms of real innovation. A total geek who loves to tinker with technology, I began looking for tech startups solving extremely cool problems. Enter: AppNexus. I was hired as an Implementation Consultant, a client-facing role that also gives me the opportunity to interact with literally every part of the company – from Sales, to our Data Pipeline group, to our R&D team. It's an incredible position that's the best of both worlds.
As an Implementation Consultant…
It's my job to work closely with a given company to migrate their entire digital ad business off of one system, and on to AppNexus. It's pretty cool. This is the kind of role that gives you opportunities to own complex integrations, while working closely with heads of organizations around the world. On a given day, I might find myself crafting a technical execution plan for a new client, discussing ways another could drive revenue growth, then later pushing out a new PHP script to automate repetitive tasks — all before lunchtime. I've helped kickstart our London office AND have been a part of some awesome new product offerings. I work with MySQL, APIs, HTML and CSS on an almost daily basis (although coding skills are not required for the job). It's been an incredible ride, and something I couldn't find anywhere else.
The best part about working at AppNexus...
Is the daily opportunity to work on interesting technical challenges. This company is constantly innovating, and is always thinking of ways to make our product – and the industry – better. You'll have the ability to wear many hats, and to directly influence the way things work. Think of a tweak that will make the UI better? Work with Product to build it. Think of a cool idea that will make your client's lives easier? Build an app using AppNexus' open APIs to make it happen. Even if you're not completely sure how to work with a certain coding language, there are tons of people around the office who are willing to help bring you up-to-speed.
